Experience

One of Oya’s assets as a coach is her experience managing change. During her management career at Reuters she led several re-organization efforts, focusing on the transformation of attitudes, perceptions and business processes.

Oya joined Reuters Turkey in 1992 and rose through the sales function to become the first Turkish Country Manager in the global, family-owned media and technology company.

She had extensive exposure to the demands of a multicultural and multinational business environment in all areas of management, which equipped her with a keen understanding of what is required to advance as a “local talent” and a woman in business. As a person who rose through the ranks of the company, she successfully took on the challenge of transition from a team member to a leader among her peers.

She led Reuters through cycles of “boom and bust” in the Turkish economy and financial sector, gaining experience managing rapid growth, and also consolidating a local operation during a downturn economy, while dealing with the demands of the corporate head office.

Oya is well versed in complex organizational structures and their impact on the operational demands of a company, having successfully managed a handful of restructurings herself while working for Reuters. She was also able to observe radical changes in her clients' organizations, often requiring changes in the way her company dealt with those clients.

As part of her responsibilities, she was able to gain considerable insight in what works in management as well as a fairly wide network of people and companies in Turkish business. 

Areas of Focus

Oya can be an asset to any executive who has to manage the special dynamics of a family company while driving growth or change in an international business.

Asking the right questions around issue such as organizational structure, building an effective top management team, are strengths in Oya’s coaching.
